Accreditation of the Maricopa Department of Public Health
The Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) has achieved national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). The Office of Performance Improvement (OPI) facilitated the Department's preparation for accreditation through collaboration, coordination, and technical support. This voluntary program requires the successful completion of three prerequisites as part of the application process.
- Community Health Assessment
- Community Health Improvement Plan
- Strategic Plan for MCDPH
What Accreditation Provided for MCDPH
Accreditation through PHAB helped MCDPH to:
- Develop Leadership
- Identify Performance Improvement Opportunities
- Improve Management
- Improve Relationships With the Community
According to PHAB, the accreditation process is designed to encourage and stimulate quality and performance improvement in the health department, as well as foster greater accountability and transparency. The accreditation standards serve as the framework for an objective evaluation process, and are based on the 10 Essential Public Health Services.
